About the game
Captain Remi's Ribbiting Journey is a Virtual Reality game I worked on at the same time as Operation Titan: Saturn Rising. I was tasked with doing 2D concept art for both.
You play as the cursed pirate Captain Remi, now turned frog, as you use your tongue to grapple your way through an island jungle in search of a cure.
I was brought onto this project after an art style was already chosen, to create designs for the level environments, props, user interface, and overall style. Both projects were my first leap into large group work, especially as the sole concept artist for two very different games.

Concept Art & Visual Development
The Volcano Island
My first task with this project was to design the overall look of the island and the models on it. I prefer to lean into stylized art, and especially with this being VR and with a deadline, going for bright colors on low-poly models fit perfect.
I first tried to mess with how the sky and the ground might look with strange colors to create a distinct look. This phase was a LOT of color adjusting. My teammates started out liking the strange colors, but we landed on a more traditional approach.
